MAHI installs Remote Operation solution on Ultratug’s ENCO Tugboat
MAHI, Belgian based developer of autonomous navigation technologies, announces the installation of the MAHI Remote Operation solution on the 32-meter-long tugboat ‘ENCO’, owned and operated by Ultratug, Chilean tugboat operator. The aim is to improve safety through remote-assisted operation.
This groundbreaking project includes the installation of MAHI Sense hardware and additional equipment such as advanced cameras, allowing for the tugboat to be remotely operated by experienced masters from a newly established Remote Operation Center in Viña Del Mar. The MAHI Sense hardware interfaces with the Caterpillar main engines, Schottel thrusters, Furuno radar, Starlink Maritime and various other systems onboard the tugboat, enabling safe remote operation.
🎤 Felipe Meza, Tugboat Fleet Manager of Ultratug – Chile: “This initiative is crucial for enhancing the safety and efficiency of our fleet. At Ultratug, we believe in seamlessly blending our consistent knowledge and experience with cutting-edge solutions while prioritizing safety and efficiency. Integrating MAHI’s technology aligns perfectly with our vision of advancing our operational capabilities and maintaining our commitment to innovation. We look forward to piloting MAHI’s cutting-edge technology and exploring potential opportunities for a further roll-out across the Ultranav fleet.”
🎤 Pieter-Jan Note, CEO of MAHI: “We experience a growth in the demand and adoption of remote operation navigation systems. The technology is rapidly developing and enables new ways of operating vessels. It’s great to make the maritime industry safer, while working alongside a partner like Ultratug, considering our shared values of excellence, safety and passion.”
