ADNOC orders 2 x Remote Operated Landing Crafts at Nam Cheong shipyard
ADNOC Logistics & Services, Abu Dhabi based maritime logistics company, contracted Nam Cheong, Malaysia-based shipbuilding group, to build two 60m Remote Operated Landing Crafts (ROLC) and two 60m Diving Support Vessels (DSV), total contract worth is US$64.5 million. Deliveries are expected in 2H2027 and early 2028.
The ROLCs, which are announced as first-of-its-kind to be built in the world, are a cutting-edge vessels developed by SeaOwl Group, France-based maritime technologies provider, and will be fully unmanned and remotely operated via satellite connection from shore station. The ROLC’s design eliminates the need for onboard crew accommodation, reducing weight, improving fuel efficiency, and enabling round-the-clock operations. Its AI-enabled route optimization is expected to deliver up to 30% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to conventional vessels. ROLCs will be equipped with built-in auto docking capability and be used for logistical operations that require rapid deployability, versatility and crewless functionality.
All ordered vessel will be constructed in-house at the Nam Cheong Group’s Miri Yard in Sarawak, Malaysia.
