HMM partners with Avikus and HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. (HD KSOE) on AI‑Powered Autonomous Navigation
HMM, a global logistics and shipping company, has announced a partnership with Avikus, a subsidiary of HD Hyundai specializing in AI‑powered navigation solutions, and HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering to introduce autonomous navigation technology across its fleet using the HiNAS Control system.
Unlike conventional systems limited to navigation assistance, HiNAS Control autonomously determines optimal routes, aiming to improve operational efficiency while reducing fuel use and emissions. HMM will begin applying the technology to 40 vessels, with gradual expansion based on operational data and experience.
The three companies will also collaborate on further development of AI‑based autonomous navigation technology:
- HMM: Applying the solution and sharing operating data
- Avikus: Providing and improving the autonomous navigation solution
- HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering: Supporting vessel platforms and technical expertise
Through this partnership, HMM plans to advance a more digital and carbon‑efficient maritime future.
