Ocean Industries Concept Lab, part of Oslo School of Design dedicated to maritime, announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the KRISO (Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering) and Ocean Industries Concept Lab at the Arkitektur- og designhøgskolen i Oslo (AHO), marking the start of an exiting partnership in advancing marine innovation and technology between Norway and Korea.

KRISO and AHO is already collaborating through the OpenRemote project funded by the Norges forskningsråd (Norwegian Research Council) and with the new MOU we intend to expand the collaboration in further activities.

This collaboration focuses on:
🔹 Developing cutting-edge multi-vessel remote operation systems.
🔹 Creating prototypes of remote maritime workstations.
🔹 Jointly tackling international marine agenda items through innovative demonstrations.
🔹 Extending and enhancing the OpenBridge Design System, setting new standards for remote workstation design.

🎤 Kjetil Nordby, head of Ocean Industries Concept Lab highlighted “As remote and autonomous shipping is changing shipping, it is exiting to be able to join forces with KRISO to lead the way towards user centered workplace for next gen systems. This will also strengthen the position of OpenBridge as a go to standard for any maritime workplace.”

By joining forces, partners aim to pave the way for maritime open innovation, sustainable marine mobility and foster innovation in maritime operations, aligning with international standards and cutting-edge design principles. First steps in the collaboration will be to establish design guidance for multivessel operations.
