Red Sea Reef Builders signs MoU with Marinas Guardian to advance marine conservation with USVs

Red Sea Reef Builders (RSRB), a UAE-based innovator in marine ecosystem restoration and blue economy development, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Marinas Guardian, a UK-registered renowned organization dedicated to the protection and stewardship of marine environments.
This strategic partnership marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration to scale high tech marine conservation solutions, deepen community engagement, and accelerate innovation in ocean protection, monitoring, restoration, and education. By combining RSRB’s technological and restoration expertise with Marinas Guardian’s grassroots approach and advocacy, the partnership aims to pioneer impactful and scalable marine solutions.
🎤 David W., CEO of Red Sea Reef Builders, stated: “This is an incredibly exciting step in our journey to scale the restoration of the health of the world’s Oceans. Marinas Guardian brings a deep commitment to community-based stewardship, as well as an incredible appreciation of the role that technology plays in the future of the blue economy, we are thrilled to integrate that with our scalable tools for protection, restoration, and data-driven marine management.”
The MoU outlines a multi-year roadmap for collaboration, including:
🔹 Deployment of cutting-edge Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) to monitor marine habitats and support conservation enforcement.
🔹 Co-design of public awareness and citizen science initiatives.
🔹 Joint marine restoration efforts, focusing on coral, seagrass, and mangrove ecosystems.
🔹 Capacity-building programs to train the next generation of ocean stewards.
🎤 Jason Peers of Marinas Guardian added: “Together with Red Sea Reef Builders, we’re creating a new model of marine protection—one that blends innovation with community. This partnership will allow us to safeguard critical ecosystems while empowering people to be part of the solution.”
This MoU builds upon both organizations’ commitment to sustainable ocean solutions, particularly in the Global South and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). It offers a replicable model for collaborative impact among private sector actors, governments, and civil society.
Early steps are already underway, with the partnership advancing a flagship initiative in Papua New Guinea—aimed at setting a new global benchmark for marine protection across the island nation.
