TideWise launches two new USVs

TideWise, a Brazilian pioneer in maritime robotics and uncrewed surface vessel (USV) operations, has held the launch and christening ceremony of two new vessels in its fleet: the USVs Tupan II and Tupan III. The event, held at Marina da Glória in Rio de Janeiro, brought together authorities, strategic partners, and collaborators, marking a new chapter in the company’s journey of innovation and growth. New vessels were christened by Larissa Feres, TideWise’s first pilot, and Ingrid Targa, project leader, in a ritual that combined naval tradition with Brazilian innovation.
Building on the success of the Tupan I, the new Tupan II and Tupan III are enhanced versions of TideWise’s first autonomous vessel, offering improved autonomy, system redundancy, and payload integration.
🎤 “When we founded TideWise, we dreamed of this very moment — seeing Brazil operate an active fleet of maritime robots,” said Rafael Coelho, CEO and co-founder of TideWise. “The Tupan I has already proven the positive impact of this technology, reducing 456 tons of CO₂ emissions in a single pre-salt operation. Now, with Tupan II and III, we expand our operational capacity, drive TideWise’s growing traction in Brazil’s oil and gas sector, and reaffirm the country’s potential to lead the autonomous maritime revolution.”
The event also served as a stage for TideWise to announce its next milestones, which include technological advancements, fleet expansion, and an increased international presence:
🔹 in partnership with EMGEPRON – Empresa Gerencial de Projetos Navais, TideWise is developing the USV SUPRESSOR intended for surveillance, monitoring, and maritime security missions;
🔹 in collaboration with Petrobras, the company is developing an 18-meter USV specifically designed for complex operations in deep and ultra-deep waters
🔹 the Tupan IV, currently being adapted to comply with European regulations, marks the beginning of TideWise Europe, a new branch based in Antwerp, Belgium, supported by the Government of Flanders;
🔹 TideWise’s international expansion also includes strategic collaborations with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges.
🎤 “TideWise was born from a passion for technology and the ocean, but above all, it is a human adventure,” said Sylvain Joyeux, co-founder and CTO of the company. “We are proud to contribute to ocean conservation and to the development of a high-tech industry in Brazil. Our team is living proof that Brazilian talent and creativity can conquer the world.”
