Martens en Van Oord has purchased the latest generation V4000 autonomous unmanned survey vessel (USV) from Demcon unmanned systems, supporting its strategy to modernize and make its fleet more sustainable.
Martens en Van Oord, established in 1986, is a Dutch contractor specializing in engineered earthmoving projects across land and water. The company focuses on sustainable solutions that contribute to safety, mobility, water quality, and livability.
Demcon unmanned systems is a Dutch maritime technology company developing autonomous USV platforms and integrated software for hydrography, offshore energy, defense, and inland water management.
The electric V4000 USV, paired with a dedicated transport vehicle, will be used for hydrographic surveys, inspections, and monitoring. Its unmanned operation enables safer, more efficient, and emission‑free activities.
🎤 “For us, this is a logical step in further greening our fleet,” said Marco van den Kieboom, Team Lead Survey and Measurement Services at Martens en Van Oord. “By deploying autonomous electric USVs, we can work safer, CO₂‑neutral, and with less noise disturbance to the surrounding environment on the water.”
Demcon unmanned systems will deliver the vessel with its integrated software suite, supporting automated operations and flexible survey configurations.
🎤 “We are very proud to be working with such a strong and innovative Dutch ground, road and hydraulic engineering contractor,” said Fedor Ester, co‑founder and Managing Director of Demcon unmanned systems. “With our latest generation of electric and autonomously operating USVs, Martens en Van Oord can further decarbonize its operations while working smarter, safer, and more efficiently.”
Delivery of the customized vessel is scheduled in the coming months.
